Business Intelligence (BI)

Your stakes / issues

  • Facilitate pertinent decision taking with appropriate reporting tools (scorecards, etc.) that provide summarized information
  • Measure the company’s performance
  • Enable cross-functional reporting between staff departments: finance, management, logistics, human resources, CRM, etc.
  • Provide a global view by consolidating multiple information systems

In addition to SAP ECC6’s operational reporting, the BI decision-making solution makes available decision aid queries as well as flexible and dynamic statements.

Our services offer covers all implementation phases for a decision-making IS:

  • Collect functional needs
  • Architecture, Modeling, Functional and Technical Design and Build
  • Configuration and administration of SAP BI BW tools
  • Acceptance, integration and non-regression tests
  • Go-Live
  • Third-Party Applications Maintenance (TPAM)

Our solution covers the main domains of the SAP decision-making software suite:

  • Administration of the integrated SAP decision-making platform (Netweaver)
    • Machine sizing, installation, configuration and optimization (Tablespaces, connections between systems, etc.)
    • Database administration (technical jobs)
    • Supervision / Planning of processing chains
    • SAP BI upgrade

  • Data integration (ETL)
    • Access to source systems: SAP ERP and BW
    • Implementation of ETL flows (extraction, transformation, BW loading) from specific or standard extractors of functional SAP contents
    • Access to heterogeneous sources:
      • relational databases (DB Connect) or OLAP databases (UD Connect)
      • flat files, Web Services (SOA), XML and BAPI
    • Data exports (Open Hub/InfoSpoke, APD)

  • Information Management / Data quality
    • DataWarehouse modeling (DataWarehouse / Datamarts)
      • Modeling on several levels (acquisition, transformation and restoration), LSA Architecture (Layered Scalability Architecture)
      • Implementation of BI best practices
    • Data quality
      • Data repository integrity check
      • Consolidation and harmonization of databases and transactional data
      • CODiLOG transcoding tool based on configurable rules

  • Analyses, Reporting / Portal
    • Report writing and dynamic scorecards
    • Web application development
    • Optimization of restoration performance

  • Performance management / Budget Planning
    • Budget planning, preparation and simulation (BI-IP Integrated Planning, BPS Business Planning and Simulation)
    • Sales forecasting
    • Management of purchase commitments

Focus on LSA concepts for the ETL architecture

Based on the LSA concepts, we recommend a simplified 3-level ETL construction:

“Level 1 – Warehouse type Acquisition” endeavors to transfer the data from the OLTP source systems without transformation. The use of standard extractors can produce a “standardized” map of flows and offer delta extraction methods.
Management rules and indicators are determined in “level 2 – Transformation”. Table joins and data enrichment with level 1 of the DSO are also performed at this stage.
The only purpose of the loading in “level 3 – Reporting” is to reorganize the information in the cubes to take advantage of the “Multidimensional” gains.
